Raising House: Huff Residence
Each episode of DIY Network's Raising House gives a behind-the-scenes look at the process of building a custom home -- from initial design meetings to final construction. The subject of our episode is the Huff Residence, a Mid Century Modern inspired home located in Central Denver's East Washington Park. We would like to thank our clients, Dave and Natalie Huff, for allowing DIY Network access to their home, and for all the extra effort they gave to make this episode possible. House Crashers: Denver/Littleton
Airing July 13, 2012 | 9:00pm MDT | DIY Network West Standard was recently honored to be selected as design-builder for the Denver / Littleton episode of House Crashers. For this project we transformed a dated floor plan into an entertainment focused "Colorado themed" living and dining area. The new space features custom perforated-steel light box and copper-faced dining table. We would like to thank homeowners Ryan and Ashley, host Josh Temple, production company Big Table Media, and our subcontractors for making this a successful and rewarding project.
Dwell Magazine
Dwell magazine has selected the West Standard designed and built York Street Residence as a finalist in the Caesarstone Challenge. Located in Denver’s Washington Park, the Mid Century Modern inspired home was selected from more than 320 entrants. The competition focuses on innovative design incorporating Caesarstone natural quartz surfaces.
Modern In Denver
Modern In Denver magazine featured our latest Washington Park custom home in their winter 2011 issue. The four page article addressed our integration of xeriscape landscaping with modern home design. A full-page image of the home's central courtyard illustrated the use of xeriscaping as a means of blending indoor and outdoor spaces. Visit Modern In Denver magazine at: www.modernindenver.com.
BIM In Small Scale Sustainable Design
Francois Levy's new book, BIM In Small Scale Sustainable Design, included a Revit model of our Washington Park custom home. The rendering was included as an example of BIM in project visualization, design, and development. Mr. Levy's book is the leading guide to architectural design within a building information modeling (BIM) workflow. The work is currently available at Amazon.com.
